Hyde Park is one of the most famous parks in Great Britain. It is one of several royal parks in the capital, which combined form one vast green zone in the heart of the capital. The territory of the park is impressive and covers 350 acres (140 hectares).

Hyde Park received the status of Royal Park in 1536, when King Henry VIII purchased land from the monks of Westminster Abbey for royal hunting. He turned it into a vast hunting park that stretched from Kensington to Westminster. In 1637, King Charles I built a so-called “ring” that divided the park from the gardens in the north. He then opened the park to the public.

To the east of Hyde Park is an open area, sown with a lawn for a game of football or any active pastime. There is a large lake, the Serpentine, in the heart of Hyde Park. To the north, next to the Marble Arch, is Speaker’s Corner. Since the mid–1800s, citizens have gathered here and communicated on any subject. The museum was founded in 1835 by Marie Tussaud, whose original name was Marie Grosholtz. She was born in Strasbourg in 1761. 41 years earlier she had taken her exhibition on tour to the British Isles, leaving her husband behind.

Many of the original models made by Marie Tussaud of her great contemporaries, including Voltaire, Benjamin Franklin, Horatio Nelson, and Sir Walter Scott, are still preserved. Originally established on Baker Street in the capital of Great Britain in 1884, the museum moved to its current site on Marylebone Road. In 1925, the popular attraction was devastated by fire, but three years later the restoration was completed with the addition of a cinema and restaurant.
